Cayman track stars will look to excel against Caribbean foes.
The Cayman Islands will be sending a strong 14-member team to this year’s Caribbean Union of Teachers Under-15 track and field championship, to be held in Kingston, Jamaica on 20-21 July. It will be held inside the national stadium on Friday and Saturday.
Some 22 countries have confirmed to participate this year. The Cayman team will be managed by Paula Erskine and Suzette Anderson and coached by Tyrone Yen. The squad departed on Thursday, 19 July and will return on Sunday, 22 July.
The team will be as follows: Girls U13 – Anniekay Anderson, 100 metres/200m, Valeska Bennette, long jump, Amanda Ferguson, shotput; Girls U15 – Lacee Barnes, shotput, Kiara McLaughlin, 400m/800m, Pearl Morgan, high jump, Daneliz Thomas, javelin; Boys U13 – Louie Gordon, high jump/long jump; Boys U15 – Rashaun Connolly, 100m/4x100m relay/medley relay, Jouri Haylock, 200m/4x100m relay/medley relay, Jeavhon Jackson, 800m/high jump/4x100m relay/medley relay, Ronaldo Morrison, long jump/4x100m relay/medley relay (alternate), Jamal Walton, 400m/4x100m relay/medley relay
