Tourism association gets new board member

Ms Meyer comes from a diverse hospitality sales, marketing and business development career

The Cayman Islands Tourism Association has a new director on its board.

Replacing John Wagner on the CITA board of directors is Brooke Meyer, by a unanimous vote.

Sad good-bye

The private sector body said it was ‘sad to see John Wagner, general manager of the Westin Casuarina Resort and Spa leave the CITA board of directors’.

“Mr. Wagner is leaving Grand Cayman as his contract has expired with [the management group of the Westin Casuarina]. The new general manager is Morty Valldujuli and is on island getting familiar with the Westin and Grand Cayman,” said Jane van der Bol of the tourism body.

Serving as the director of sales and marketing for the Grand Caymanian Resort, Ms Meyer comes from a diverse hospitality sales, marketing and business
development career spanning 14 years.

Earned accolades

She has earned the Convention Industry Council’s Certified Meeting Professional designation, the Professional Convention Management Association’s Certified Association Sales Executive designation and is an active member of various tourism-related organisations internationally.

Excellent salesman

Prior to coming to Grand Cayman, Ms Meyer most recently served as the director of sales and marketing for the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Berkeley, California where she was a recipient of the 2011 Award of Excellence for Sales Team of the Year.

On behalf of the board of directors, Ms van der Bol said that the association welcomed Ms Meyer and looked forward in working “together for tourism”.
