Catch some local musical and artistic talent this Saturday evening when the monthly Musician’s Showcase takes place on the Crescent at Camana Bay.
“This month’s event is themed around young talent and we are pleased to present up-and-comers Arianna Broderick at 6pm, Harmony Scott at 7pm and Undiscovered at 8pm,” says Bianca Freeland, public relations coordinator for Camana Bay.
The free, open air concert was conceptualised by local musician and One World Entertainment partner Eden Hurlston as a way to showcase Cayman’s musical and artistic talent and provide a regular venue for local charities to educate the public on important initiatives, explains Bianca.
It was an idea that fit perfectly with Dart’s commitment to fostering the arts and supporting local charities, and the Musician’s Showcase has become an integral part of Camana Bay’s regular entertainment offerings.
In addition to musical entertainment, Eden Hurlston is now working with the Visual Arts Society, to feature a different local artist each month who will exhibit some of their work on the Crescent.
Upcoming local artist Cira Bush will be featured this week. Cira’s work includes acrylics and mixed medium paintings on canvas as well as decorated local wood pieces, hanging fish, stingrays and turtles.
The Island Glass Blowing Studio will also be present. They will be putting on a demo, making small handmade pieces, which will require just 15 minutes of cool down time before the results can be seen.
Glass works, paintings, as well as cards and prints from other local artists will be available to purchase.
In addition to the music and art, the NCVO will be present.
“Each month, Eden identifies a local charity to participate in the Showcase,” says Bianca. “This gives the charity an opportunity to educate concert-goers on upcoming initiatives and those interested in lending their support are welcome to leave a donation. Also, featured artists who choose to sell their work on the night are invited to donate a portion of the proceeds to the featured charity.”
This month NCVO representatives will be present at the concert to provide information on their work and promote their youth initiatives, which ties in well with the “young talent” theme.
The Musician’s Showcase runs from 6pm to 9pm.
