Appleby disconnect WestStar

Appleby are arguably the hottest team in five-a-side football.

The team had another impressive showing at Kings Sports Centre. In the game of the week for 13-16 August, Appleby defeated West Star 4-3. Thomas Wood had a hat-trick for the winners with Jonathan Ebanks adding the other goal. Ernel Whitely had a brace for the TV guys with Nicholas Tibbetts adding a goal.

Elsewhere in division one and two, Hurleys beat BDO 4-2. Andres Ruiz had the hat-trick for the winners while Matthew Owen and Mario Dinal scored for BDO.

Bonaca Boys rebounded from an iffy start to clip Transformers 6-5. Mark Ebanks could not be stopped with four goals to his name and he had scores from Jedd Ebanks and Durk Tatum. Dominique Pearson led the prison team with two goals, followed by goals from Ronny Dilbert, Rono Henry and McAndy Thomas.

Time will tell where the CFP Buzz Crusaders, last year’s division two champions, fit into the mix. Reuben Hydes and Kris Pearson led the squad into their first game against the Bonaca Boys on Monday, 20 August and the side boasts talent like Carson Fagan.

The week’s other high-scoring game came in division three. The KPMG Titans defeated PWC 5-3 behind two goals from Fabio Smith. Dylan Hume and Simon Patterson had two of the scores for the accountants.

No Xq’s beat Doghouse II 2-0 as Will Hall notched a key goal.

Unfortunately, there were a pair of forfeits as KPMG 1 conceded to Deloitte and Ernst and Young conceded to CML.
