A local dive company is upping its game ahead of the high season.
Renee Knight explained that Cayman Diving School had added a 31-foot Stamas to their fleet.
“The new boat is awesome,” she said. “We only take six to eight divers [prior to the new boat] and can now also do private charters up to 10 divers or snorkellers.
“I have been wanting to upgrade for a while so I am very excited about finally being able to do it,” she said. The company has been around for more than 30 years and Ms Knight said that she had worked there and owned it for about 12 years.
“It was one of the first dive schools on the island,” she said. “It used to be at the Old Seaview back in the day, which was a legendary place. We are a PADI 5-star International Diving Centre as I am a PADI Course Director (Instructor Trainer), so we can teach all courses including instructor courses. That is the highest rating you can get from PADI,”
The company has also invested in some new underwater scooters, which Ms Knight said gave a real added excitement to a dive.
“Underwater scooters are motorised vehicles that you can use while diving so that you don’t have to kick while you dive. You can cover a huge area if you want to go and explore and it lets you see things you would never reach by just kicking,” she said. “They have been around a while and we used to have the old ones but decided to try to new ones that are out now and they are a lot of fun – easy to use, compact and lighter than the old ones.”
