Walking for recovery event slated

The Hope for Today Foundation is holding a five-mile walk from Seven Mile Beach to West Bay and back to raise money for its halfway homes for recovering addicts.

The walk begins at 6am on Saturday, 29 September.

Brent Hydes, operations manager of the foundation’s halfway homes in West Bay in Grand Cayman, said: “We’re inviting the community to come on board and join the walk.”

Registration fee for the walk is $25 each. It begins at Public Beach on West Bay Road, continues to the four-way stop in West Bay, then along Church Street to the police station and onto Willie Farrington Drive to Foster’s and back to Public Beach.

All participants will be entered in a random draw for which prizes include a weekend at the Westin Casuarina, two plane tickets to Cayman Brac and a phone from Lime. There will also be trophies for first and second place. The foundation runs halfway homes in West Bay to help people who are recovering from substance abuse and addiction and those with mental health issues to get back on their feet.
