Breezes run blows into horizon

Weekend fun runs are plentiful at present and the next really big one is the Breeze Fusion version.

Organisers of the sixth annual Breeze Fusion 2-Mile Walk/Run are finalising another staging on Saturday 3 November. This Radio Cayman and Breeze FM event promotes healthy family and community activities, while making a contribution to deserving charities and community organisations.

“I’m excited that this is our sixth year of giving back to the community with the help of the general public and anticipate that this year’s event will be the biggest and best ever,” says event coordinator, Radio Cayman’s Paulette Conolly-Bailey.

“LIME Communications is back on board this year, along with other sponsors Maedac Supplies providing WATA, La Dolce Vita Restaurant, Funky Tangs, Miracle Brokers, Young World Fashions, Lee’s Office Products, Cayman National and Roma United Sports Club who have supported the event since inception.”

Organised by Breeze FM and the Phoenix Athletic Club, part proceeds from the Breeze Fusion Walk/Run, will go to the National Council for Voluntary Organisations, as they have done since the first staging in 2007.

The NCVO is an independent, non-profit, charitable organisation, engaging in projects to meet the ever increasing needs of the community. The second beneficiary this year is Rotaract Blue Cayman Islands, a service club of young, aspiring, like-minded professionals, ‘Committed to Making a Positive Difference’.

Mark Scotland, Minister of Sports and Health, made a rare appearance in this run last year and by the speed and vitality in his finish looked able to run a full marathon straight after.

The event route remains the same as in previous years, with a different start/finish location for the first
time at Smith’s Cove.

Registration is $15 for adults, $10 for students under sixteen. So far, one pre-registration event is scheduled for Friday 2 November on the front lawn of the old GAB Building from 12noon to 4pm.

Late registration on the day of the event will be from 5.45am, with a 6.30am start for walkers and 7:00 for runners. Participants will receive an event T-shirt and gift bag.

In addition, participant medals will be given to the every entrant as well as first, second and third place finishers in each category.

Trophies will be awarded to the overall male and
female winners.
