One person is dead and another is in police custody on suspicion of driving under the influence after a white Nissan Sunny crashed into a wall early Sunday morning along Mangrove Avenue in Prospect.
Emergency services responded at about 3.45am after receiving a report that two people were trapped in a car following a single-vehicle accident, according to a news release issued by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service. One of the victims was pronounced dead upon arrival at Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town in Grand Cayman.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and causing death by dangerous driving, police said.
No further details were immediately made available. The accident remains under investigation, authorities said.
