Bodden Town fly in Bird’s memory

The Cayman Islands Football Association Premier League season kicked off on Sunday and not surprisingly Bodden Town have immediately gone to the top of the league having beaten Cayman Athletic 2-0.

Bodden Town are a young, developing side and they have been strengthened with the arrival of Dwayne ‘Gaza’ Wright and Alex Belcher from Elite. Arvid Harris and Gaza got the goals at the TE McField Annex. Bodden Town players and supporters wore T-shirts in memory of popular player Gerome ‘Bird’ Graham who died in training from an abnormal heart condition
last season.

In the second match at the same venue George Town beat Tigers 1-0 thanks to a goal by central defender Leighton ‘Rumpy’ Elliott.

At the Ed Bush stadium in West Bay, league champs Scholars International drew 2-2 with newcomers Academy Sports Club. Prolific striker Mark Ebanks found the net for Scholars International and his team-mate defender Tom Elliot got the other. Fabio Gall and Jonah Ebanks were the Academy marksmen.

Elite beat the other promoted team, North Side, 1-0 thanks to a strike by
Hank Parchment.

Premier League action resumes on Sunday. At the Bodden Town Haig field, North Side face Scholars in the 5pm game and then Bodden Town take on George Town.

At the TE McField Annex, Tigers face Elite in the early game and Academy battle with Cayman Athletic
in the 7pm match.
