Miss Cayman Islands Lindsay Japal is representing her homeland during the upcoming Miss Universe pageant.
Lindsay, 24, was born and raised in George Town in Grand Cayman. An avid diver, she is always trying to find new ways to explore life under the sea. In her free time, the Caymanian likes to try new foods or relax with a good book or movie. At the moment, Lindsay is studying finance and marketing so she can pursue a successful career in the financial services industry.
According to her Miss Universe biography, she played both the clarinet and steel drums as a youngster and her dream job is either a food critic or journalist for National Geographic.
Miss Universe 2012 takes place at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on Wednesday, 19 December. It will be hosted by Andy Cohen and friend of Cayman, Giuliana Rancic.
The current Miss Universe is 26-year old Leila Lopes, who made history in 2011 by being the first woman from Angola to win the crown. She is only the fourth woman from Africa in the pageant’s 60-year history to win the Miss Universe title and was a popular choice at the Sao Paolo, Brazil ceremony.
