Watch out, de Weddin’ Scamma is comin’

A famous and hilarious play by Michael Denton is coming to Cayman.

De Weddin’ Scamma takes place on Sunday, 2 December at the Lion Centre in Grand Cayman and is directed by Garfield Reid and BL Allen.

Starring in the play are Jamaican comedy superstars including Keith Shebada Ramsay, Maxwell Maama Man Grant, Ramona Miller, Cavin Carty, Etesia Ramsay, Dainty Bellanfantie and Richard Stephenson.

The play, which is in part a salute to Jamaica’s 50 years of independence, has been performed in many countries including some well-received performances in London and Birmingham, England.

De Weddin Scamma tells the story of a man’s mission to sever the ties between his son and his beaming bride to be. Mr. London (Maxwell Grant) makes no apology about his blatant hatred for his daughter-in-law Sandy (Dainty Bellanfantie), and is openly hostile toward her. Things get interesting when Keithie (Shebada Ramsay) comes into the mix and sparks fly. Someone is set to say “I do” but as the title of the production suggests, all is not bliss. Will Sandy get her dream wedding? Will she and her beau have a happily ever after? And how exactly does Keithie fit into the plot?

Admission to the event, which starts at 7.30pm, is $25 in advance and $30 at the gate. Tickets are available from Funky Tangs, BJ’s Electronics, Welly’s Cool Spot, Mr. G’s Barber and Mama Lyn’s.
