Cayman Prep and High School’s popular fundraising cookbook, “Prep for Success”, is now on sale at a reduced price over the Christmas period.
The hardcover book was initially launched in April 2006 as a way to raise money to help repair the school following damage sustained in Hurricane Ivan, as well as carry out general improvements to the facility.
Since the cookbook’s launch, it has sold more than 3,500 copies. It features an exciting range of more than 250 delicious recipes alongside beautiful colour illustrations and cooking tips, reflecting the tastes and cultures of people across the globe living in the Cayman Islands and the local Caymanain people.
“The monies raised are earmarked for the Cayman Prep Building Fund and as such go toward facility renovation projects,” said Catherine Philip, administration officer at Cayman Prep. “For example, we currently have plans to renovate the primary school hall, including installing a new floor and adding blinds and acoustic panels. Monies raised from the cookbook sales will be added to donations from the PTA to ensure we are able to complete the project to a high standard.”
Recipes for the cookbook were submitted by Cayman Prep student’s families and all have been tested by a cooking and tasting committee. In addition, each recipe was analysed by the Caribbean Food & Nutrition Institute in Jamaica, which provided nutritional information.
“With its wide variety of recipes, ‘Prep for Success’ caters to everyone’s tastes,” Mrs. Philip added. “Beautifully photographed and clearly explained, from the island cuisine of the Caribbean to sophisticated European, Asian and North American dishes, Prep for Success is a winner. This has to be the must-have, perfect Christmas present for relatives, friends and even employees.”
The cookbook is priced at $25 instead of the usual $35 and is available from either school offices at Cayman Prep.
