Peter ‘Lightning’ Lewison has only one ambition in life – to be a world champion.
That is why every waking minute is spent focused on getting there. The 25-year-old middleweight prospect from – where else but Prospect – is in action again this Saturday 8 December, at the Lion Centre.
Lewison has his fourth bout against the experienced American Elvis Martinez and is totally focused on beating him ahead of a busy 2013. Lewison turned pro 18 months ago but has been relatively inactive for a novice pro who usually pack in eight to 10 fights by this time.
That’s why Lewison intends to go on the road and find fights around the Caribbean and United States next year.
In the meanwhile he hopes to send Elvis to heartbreak hotel after their bout but still able to dance in his blue suede shoes.
Lewison spent some time in Harbour Island, Tampa last month getting some invaluable sparring from top pros. He was also eyeing venues for opportunities to promote in Tampa.
“I want to be really busy next year, fighting as often as possible in Florida and maybe the Dominican Republic and anywhere else I can get fights,” Lewison said. “I want to cram in as much experience as I can so that I can get up to the 12-bout mark which means I’ll be eligible to fight for the IBF junior-middleweight belt.”
