The Girl Guides Association of the Cayman Islands held a Christmas Bazaar recently and it entailed the first fundraising effort of its kind for the group.
The association was raising money to help pay for a field trip to Barbados next summer and the event’s organiser, Allison Taylor, said the group was hoping to stage the bazaar again next year.
During the event, there were local products on sale including baked goods, jewellery, books and hair accessories – all offered by local artists who lent support for the initiative by purchasing booths from which to sell their wares.
Also attending the event were Girl Guides President Marie Beatrice Taylor and her husband, Cayman Islands Governor Duncan Taylor.
The couple purchased items from the Junior Achievement and Girl Guides booths.
