Miss Shirley and the Big Bamboo Crew progressed to the next phase of the Flowers Bottled Water Fish Tea Cookoff after winning the third preliminary round, held at Grape Tree Cafe on Saturday, 1 December.
There also was a jet ski presentation with three teams comming out to show their support: Trying A Ting (Jordan McLean), [email protected] (Gary Whittaker) and Good 2 Go (Vincent Ramgeet).
Organisers said it was an ‘awesome display’ of jet skis and Jordan McLean’s 2011 World Champion bike and trophies.
“We had a great time listening to the tunes of Dj Sly and Dj Vicious and enjoyed great fish tea from Miss Shirley and the Big Bamboo Crew. Thanks to all our sponsors: Flowers Bottled Water, Flava Magazine, Watlers Metal Products, Cayman Screen Print, Vibestime Entertainment and Vibe 98.9 FM,” said Shane Edwards.
The North Side Winner from the heat at Over the Edge was won by Miller’s Caboose – John Miller. Music came from DJ Sly and DJ Vicious again and Water Boyz contributed a case of beer to the winner plus Over the Edge made a cash contribution.
Organisers said they were ‘actively looking into doing a fish tea cook off in Cayman Brac’, hopefully in Early January
The winners of each district heat win $150 plus a case of beer, and will have a chance to be selected to represent the Flowers Bottled Water Fish Tea Cook Off at the All Things Caymanian stall at Taste of Cayman on Saturday, 26 January. All the winners from each district will participate in the final Flowers Bottled Water Fish Tea Cook Off at the East End Surf Challenge (Colliers Public Beach) on National Heroes Day, Monday, 28 January.
