The Grand Cayman Beach Suites has opened the island’s newest lounge.
Sidebar is a contemporary lounge that is a sophisticated, cool spot to relax after a hard day at the office or sightseeing, said Bill Powers, general manager of Grand Cayman Beach Suites.
“We wanted to create a space that is inviting to both local patrons and our hotel guests who want to entertain in a quiet, air-conditioned location and catch a game, a drink and a light bite to eat,” he said. “There really isn’t another place like this in Grand Cayman, so we believe we are offering something quite unique.”
Sidebar is open from 4pm to midnight and serves a wide array of wines by the glass, premium liquor by the half bottle (complete with ice bucket and glass-bottle sodas) and bottled and draft beers. Three high-definition televisions sit high above the full-length bar and there is full service outside at the Turtle Pool for those looking for Caribbean breezes, said Mr. Powers, who added that the food menu was “reminiscent of gastro-pub offerings, such as a short-rib and grilled cheese sandwich, duck wings and gourmet pizzas”.
Sidebar has taken over the space formerly known as Bamboo, but the entrance is now on the side of the building.
The Grand Cayman Beach Suites has also renovated all guest rooms with new carpet, paint, furniture and flat screen TVs and has started the process of demolishing the site of the former Hyatt Hotel.
