Academy may be the Premier League’s newcomers but they are certainly not struggling to establish themselves in the top flight.
Two Academy players are actually amongst the league’s top scorers. Emmanuel Ricoh Brown and Jonah Ebanks have both scored five times this season to help them to a fifth place in the Prem.
Academy recorded the biggest surprise of the season so far on Sunday at the TE McField Annex, beating reigning champs Scholars International 2-1.
Romario Dixon scored in the second minute for Academy before Nahun Rodriguez equalised seven minutes later. Jonah Ebanks hit Academy’s winner in the 18th minute.
George Town drew 0-0 with Tigers in the later game at the Annex.
At the Bodden Town field Elite could only manage a 1-1 draw with North Side. Elite had led the league all season but dropped to second place on goal difference to Bodden Town. Both are on 19 points.
Cesar Dixon scored for Elite in the 11th minute and Dwayne Wilson equalised for North Side in the 36th minute.
Bodden Town beat Cayman Athletic 2-0 thanks to goals by Danu Smith in the 16th and Arvid Harris in the 66th.
League action resumes on Sunday 13 January with the games at North Side starting at 5pm between Cayman Athletic and Academy.
The 7pm games is between North Side and Scholars International.
At the TE McField Annex, the early game is between Tigers and Elite and the later match George Town and Bodden Town.
