On 23 December, 1823, a poem was published in the Troy Sentinel in upstate New York. The poem told a tale of one St. Nicholas arriving on his sleigh, climbing up on the roof and descending down the chimney.
Commonly referred to as the “Twas the Night Before Christmas” poem, almost two centuries later it is still traditional across the Christmas-celebrating world to read this poem the night before Christmas. Or even the night before the night before Christmas.
And that’s just when it will be read at a special all-new pyjama party being held at Camana Bay. Parents and little ones can go down to the Crescent at 5pm on Sunday evening for a special storytelling by Mrs. Claus.
Children can come along in their pyjamas and there will be cookies and milk provided by Black Trumpet and colouring and crafts will be provided by Starfish Village – the “edutainment” centre opening soon in Camana Bay.
There will also be a certain special guest making an appearance – and no doubt striking those who have not been good this year off his delivery list!
