Arrests in Kirk Freeport robbery

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with Monday night’s robbery at the Kirk Freeport jewellery store in the Strand.

Police said a “quantity” of Rolex and Breitling watches were stolen during the armed robbery that occurred around 6.45pm Monday in the Strand shopping centre off West Bay Road.
 
Royal Cayman Islands Police officers said, in addition to the suspicion of robbery, one of the men was also arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon and possession of ganja.  

Two of the males were also arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.  

They remain in police custody while inquiries continue. No charges had been filed as of Wednesday.
 
Despite the arrests, police officers are still asking anyone who witnessed the robbery or saw the suspects either before or after the incident to come forward.
 
To that end, police produced the following description of the offenders:
 
Suspect 1 – described as tall (approx. 6ft – 6ft 3), slim build and wearing a woolen black ski type mask with no holes cut out for the mouth. He was wearing a heavy black ‘bomber’ style jacket and black pants, possibly jeans. He wore dark coloured gloves.
 
Suspect 2 – described as tall (approx. 6ft – 6ft 3), slim/medium build and wearing a black mask, a black jacket, black pants and black shoes. He was wearing dark coloured gloves.
 
Suspect 3 – described as tall (approx. 6ft – 6ft 3), slim build and wearing a black mask, a black jacket, black pants and black basketball style shoes which have white soles and white toes. He was wearing light coloured gardening style gloves.
 
Suspect 4 – described as medium height (approx. 5ft7 – 5ft9), medium build and wearing a black mask, a black jacket, blue jeans and black shoes. He was wearing light coloured gardening style gloves.
 
The offenders made off on foot to the rear of Kirk Freeport and towards the construction site on West Bay Road opposite The Caribbean Club following the robbery.
