Security Centre throws in support

The Security Centre Limited is preparing for the 2013 season of youth flag football.

Entering its fifth season, the Security Centre Youth Flag Football League is organised by the Cayman Islands Flag Football Association, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to expanding the sport locally.

The league welcomes boys and girls from age 7 through 17. Online registration is open and the 2013 season officially kicks off on Saturday, 16 February, with games played on the Camana Bay Sports Field.

Competition last year also saw Saturday games at Camana Bay and featured matches split up into various age divisions. The senior segment featured Sonny Powell’s Security Centre Packers, Christopher Collins’ flag football association Eagles, David Lee’s Chrissie Tomlinson Memorial Giants and Jamaal Miller’s Zulu Warriors.

In the middle division, the Al La Kebab Titans, flag football association Colts, Dart Dolphins, Security Centre Patriots, Popeyes Saints and SRS Steelers stormed the field. The junior division featured the Broadhurst Buccaneers, Walkers Wolverines, Burger King Gators and Maples Raiders.

A player registration fee of $10 covers sign-up and administration expenses for the full season, which runs from February through early May. All registered players will receive a team uniform, as well as refreshments during each match.

Parents, players, sponsors and volunteers can visit the flag football association youth website for detailed information.
