Digicel cuts off G-Force service

Digicel is showing its prowess in coed softball.

The Digicel Dynamos recently notched their first win in the D League of the 2013 Winter Adult Coed Softball League, put on by the Cayman Islands Little League Association. Digicel would beat G-Force, 10-9, at the Field of Dreams facility in George Town.

Digicel came out with nine players at game time, though the roster would eventually swell to 13. The first inning was slow for the Dynamos though home runs, doubles and line drives would follow thereafter.

Special mention goes to first baseman Andre S, shortstop/pitcher Brad, outfielders Superman Raul, Rhys the Beast, Shannon, Erika, Marlon, Andre G The Great and catcher Gary for their exploits in the field and at the plate.

The victory puts Digicel at 1-1 in the D League standings, good for second place. The Dynamos are behind the 2-0 Misfits, another rookie club, and ahead of veteran teams G-Force and PwC Scorpions, both at 1-2 apiece.

Digicel played on Wednesday against the Scorpions, while their division rivals were in action on Tuesday. The Dynamos’ next match is next Wednesday, 6 March, against G-Force at 8.15pm on field two at Field of Dreams.

It should be noted that the D League started after the other three leagues – the more competitive divisions began play in late January. Heading into this week, 4-1 KPMG A were atop the A League, ahead of 3-2 Home Gas, 2-2-1 Rhino Rebar and 2-3 A.L. Thompson’s Hammers.

Coors Light Chuggers, 4-0-1, lead the B League ahead of 3-1 Deloitte, 3-1 BritCay Premiums, 3-1 Maples Sluggers, 2-3 Hitmen, 1-3 Rackham’s Crabbies, 1-4 Master Batters and 1-4 Walkers Warriors.

PwC B, 4-1, top the C League ahead of 2-2 UBS Swingers, 2-2 Harbour House Whalers, 2-3 KPMG B, 2-3 Dart and 0-5 Subway.

The coed softball league is in its sixth week and will last through early May.
