Police have bailed two people they arrested Thursday in connection with shots fired at police in Lakeside Condos earlier this month in Grand Cayman.
A total of six people – five men and one woman – have been arrested, and subsequently bailed, in connection to the 11 April shooting, which occurred after police followed a black Explorer SUV carrying four people into the Lakeside complex off the Esterley Tibbetts Highway. The vehicle crashed through and fence and the occupants bailed out of the SUV. When police gave chase on foot, shots were fired at the officers, none of whom were injured.
Two suspects, men ages 23 and 30 years, were released on bail Friday, 18 April. They had been arrested the day before following a police operation in the George Town area.
The 30-year-old was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defeat the ends of justice and the 23-year-old on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm and attempted murder.
The first arrest in the case was made on the night of the shooting when police arrested a 29-year-old man near Lakeside. The following morning, a 22-year-old man was also arrested. Both men were held on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Also on Friday, 12 April, police arrested another 22-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman in connection with the shooting. They were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defeat justice.
None of the six has been charged.
