Walk has right note

The West Bay Sports Foundation, in conjunction with the Sir John A. Cumber Primary School, presents the first West Bay Community Walk and Run this weekend.

It is on Saturday, 27 April, beginning at 7am at the primary school campus in West Bay.

Proceeds from the event go toward fundraising for instruments for the school’s music department.

Co-founder of the West Bay Sports Foundation Arden “Cheeky” Rivers said: “We are very pleased to partner with our district’s primary school to raise funds for this worthwhile cause. We encourage everyone in West Bay, and Grand Cayman as a whole, to come out and show their support.

“Whether you walk, run, crawl – it makes no difference,” Rivers said. “Once you step out onto the road the Sir John A. Cumber Primary School and the district benefits.

“Special thanks to all the volunteers who have assisted in some way in making this event a reality.”

Participants will begin the walk and run at the school next to the West Bay Town Hall, then travel down Rev. Blackman Road, turn right onto West Church Street, turn right onto Town Hall Road at the Four-Way Stop and finish back at the school.

Check-in takes place between 6 and 6.30am at Sir John A. Cumber Primary School with the event starting promptly at 7am.

There will be trophies for the winners in the various age groups and refreshments for all participants. There will also be chances to win spot prizes.
