Greenies cheer despite Hall ton

A 6-wickets haul from Greenies Richard Barker restricted By Rite to 211 for 8 wickets in the feature match of Division 1 last weekend at the Smith Road Oval.

In front of an appreciative crowd, By Rite posted a competitive total of 211 for 8 wickets with Ainsley Hall scoring the season’s first century of 114 with 6 fours and 5 sixes.

After a positive start, By Rite sitting comfortably on 172 for 4 wickets lost their way scoring only 39 runs in the remaining 12 overs as Barker ripped through the lower order.

National player Ian Rotsey then anchored Greenies to a winning start in defence of the Division 1 League championship in a last ball finish.

Greenies were struggling at 3 wickets for 34 runs before Rotsey 83 teamed up with Ryan Eisenhammer 79 in a 159 runs partnership making the way for Nick Sellars to crown the hard work with a last ball four. Greenies won by 1 wicket.

At the Jimmy Powell Oval, a wet outfield reduced the Prison versus Esso Tigers match to 16 overs. Batting first, Prison totalled 112 for 5 with evergreen Steve Gordon 43 and Kervin Ebanks 29.

Esso Tigers then blasted their way to victory with Milton Johnson 40n.o and Alistair Ifill 39. Esso Tigers won by 8 wickets.

In Division 2 Greenies, had a comfortable 9 wickets victory over UCCI/West Bay, who scored only 52 runs. Paramount defeated Chillies by 6 wickets with Deno McInnis 62, Michael Reid 45 and Victor Campbell 32 the main scorers.
