Other side of the hungry coin

Anyone who works in our schools – public or private – will attest to the fact that many students throw away half or more of their food on a daily basis. That’s right!

So let’s ask ourselves how often do we tell our child(ren) that if they do not want their food it is OK to give it to a teacher that can in turn give it to another child?

As a parent or teacher, do we ingrain sharing into our children? Believe it or not, some of these children know that their peers have no food and they throw away their portion out of spite/cruelty.

With the amount of food our students throw away daily, there is no reason for any child to go hungry. So remember…. “When you point one finger, there are three fingers pointing back to you.”
