East End restaurant Tukka’s lionfish hunting team won the award for most lionfish caught in the latest culling tournament of the invasive species.
Tukka was the winning restaurant for the Foster’s Food Fair Lionfish Tournament, on 25 and 26 April. Its culling team, the Tukka Teal Tigers, brought home 198 lionfish, the most caught by a single team in the tournament.
Eight culling teams took part.
The Cayman Islands Tourism Association and Foster’s Food Fair present Chef Ron from Tukka with the award for culling the most lionfish on Friday, 10 May, at the restaurant.
Tukka is known for turning divers’ catches of lionfish into delicious dishes, such as lionfish cakes and ceviche.
