Derrick’s crew targets Ja praise

Island All Stars domino club will be slamming for new respect.

The squad, led by Derrick Elliott Snr, heads to Jamaica this weekend for an invitational tournament featuring teams from Jamrock and the US. Matches will take place in Kingston from Friday, 17 May, to Sunday, 19 May.

The tournament schedule sees Island All Stars arriving in Jamaica on Thursday and playing a warm-up match in Portmore. The Cayman side then plays a US All Stars side on Friday at 5pm at Empire Plaza on Cross Road. On Saturday at 5pm, the Cayman players face a Jamaica Domino Council Association mixed team at the Red Stripe Compound.

Island All Stars wrap up with a Pairs Knockout competition, raffle and awards ceremony starting from 10am on Sunday at the Red Stripe location. The Cayman squad then returns home on Monday.

All Stars, who feature talents like Janet Hislop, are no strangers to facing foreign opposition. In September 2011, the side hosted a team from South Florida at the Mango Tree and beat the visitors twice, by nine and 24 points, respectively. Among the notable players were Sharon Legister and Seymour Ellis.

Before that, All Stars hosted Jamaican squad Rite Stuff Sports Club at Mango Tree. The visitors won both games by 20 points.
