Getting crafty on the Brac

Two special scrapbooking sessions in the company of Saskia Edwards are taking place in the next week or so in Cayman Brac.

First, you can join Saskia on Tuesday, 21 May at the Alexander Hotel and subsequently then on Wednesday, 29 May at Brac Reef Beach Resort. Both sessions run from 3.30 to 5pm.

“Scrapbooking is the art of preserving memories through photographs, clippings and mementos,” our good buddy Saskia tells us. “Basically, it is a decorated photo album that serves as a great memorabilia.”

All materials are provided, so no need to bring anything.

This monthly programme hosted by the Cayman Brac Heritage House allows tourists to the Sister Islands an opportunity to interact with local artisans while learning about Caymanian culture through a particular craft. Everyone is welcome to join, we’re told, which is groovy.

During a session guests are told about the historical significance behind the items they make and the materials that are used. In addition to creating a one-of-a-kind souvenir, this great social activity leaves participants with a fun, educational experience and deep appreciation for Caymanian culture.

Call 948-0563 or email [email protected] to sign up for a session. You can also do this at the front desk of the hotels.
