Update 3.15pm Thursday: The woman who was found dead outside the Caribbean Club Wednesday has been identified as Shakara Taylor, 31, of the United Kingdom. Ms Taylor was a UK citizen who lived in Prospect. Royal Cayman Islands Police said there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding Ms Taylor’s death.

Update 6:15pm Wednesday: A police investigation has been launched after the body of a woman was found outside the Caribbean Club on West Bay Road around noon Wednesday.  The woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene, had sustained serious head injuries. At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained and officers are in the process of contacting the woman’s family. Anyone who was in the area of the Caribbean Club around 12.30pm Wednesday, and has any information which could assist the enquiry, is asked to call George Town police station on 949-4222.

Initial story: The Royal Cayman Islands Police service reported that at 12.30pm Wednesday, a body was found outside a local hotel-condominium complex.

The body of a female was located outside the Caribbean Club on West Bay Road, police said.

The Caymanian Compass received reports of someone jumping from the building at that location earlier, but those reports were not immediately confirmed by police.

Police officers are on the scene. We’ll have more on www.caycompass.com as information becomes available.

  1. No suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, according to Police. A woman is found dead at midday on the driveway of the Caribbean Club with serious head injuries and that’s not suspicious??? Call me crazy, but it sounds suspicious to me.
