Pascal record

Javelin ace Alex Pascal broke his own national record at the 2013 Cayman National Championship with a throw of 71.18 metres.

The new mark was set at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex on Saturday in Grand Cayman, with Pascal’s first throw using his new Nordic carbon javelin. The old record was 69.17m.

Pascal, 18, is now working with his coach Roberto Diaz from Cuba, preparing for the Central America and Caribbean Senior Championship Games in Mexico from 5 to 7 July, Island Games in Bermuda from 13 to 17 July and the Pan-Am Juniors in Columbia from 23 to 25 August.

He is training twice a day, six times a week as he still has to improve his technique with coach Diaz.
