Woman critically hurt in fall from tower

A woman was critically injured Tuesday after what the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service described as a fall from the observation tower at Camana Bay.

According to police, there were no suspicious circumstances in the incident, which happened around 9.45am Tuesday.

The woman, a resident at the Camana Bay complex, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition Tuesday morning.

A few workers on the Camana Bay complex at the time saw the woman walk past their positions into the stairwell for the observation tower and then spotted her falling from the tower a short while later. Police did not state whether the incident was an accidental fall or intentional.

Tuesday’s incident occurred about a month after a woman was killed in a fall from the Caribbean Club building along West Bay Road.

Police said Blackpool native Shakara Taylor, 31, died in that fall on 29 May.
