Saturday morning power outage blamed on car crash

A power outage that affected Cayman Islands residents from George Town to North Side early Saturday was caused by a car wreck in George Town.

Caribbean Utilities Company officials reported overnight that a crash on the Linford Pierson Highway that took out a power pole was responsible for the outage.
The crash happened at approximately 1.45am Saturday. CUC officials warned that it would take up to six hours to repair the outage.
By mid-morning Saturday most of the districts had power restored.
