The popular Magnum Cup Corporate Team Tennis League fall season gets under way next week.
After three successful seasons, the fourth season will be the biggest yet with the league expanding to 20 teams.
The Magnum Cup starts on Tuesday, Sept. 17 and runs until early December. Teams can participate in two leagues. The A-League is for the more competitive players and the B-League is more for social play.
This is a doubles league only, with each team competing in three doubles matches – one men’s, one women’s and one any combo doubles.
Last season had 202 players participating on 16 teams. A-League champions were Team KPMG, while Team HSBC took the B-League title.
“The emphasis in this league is fun, which it is why it has shown tremendous growth over the past three seasons and we are looking forward to starting The Magnum Cup on Tuesday,” said Ritz-Carlton director of tennis Thomas Neuert.
Matches are played on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7:15 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. The start of the matches have been moved to one hour earlier thanks to the addition of The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman’s new hard courts this summer.
“This makes it even easier to join and play,” Neuert said. “We would like to thank Magnum Jewellers for being our sponsor again this season. Their support is highly appreciated.”
There are still a couple of teams slots available. To enter call The Courts Tennis Centre at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman at 323-0086 or email the co-director, Jill Litrenta, at [email protected] by Wednesday, Sept. 11.
