Cayman’s world-class super-welterweight fighter Charles “Killa” Whittaker was on the verge of canceling his next show, scheduled for Saturday, because of lack of sponsors.
But the battling bruiser did not give up hope and has found the cash needed for the show from new sponsors and it now goes ahead at the Lions Center on Oct. 26.
Whittaker intends to have at least four bouts on the bill, which will feature Caymanians Peter “Lightning” Lewison and Dariel Ebanks.
Lewison is a five-fight unbeaten light-heavyweight prospect and Ebanks, who is also a light-heavy, is making his pro debut after a distinguished amateur career that saw him highly placed in the world rankings.
Whittaker feels the delay is helping him too because he suffered an elbow injury in training, so now he has extra time to recover.
He is still searching for that elusive world title shot.
