The Cayman Brac branch of the Humane Society has a new look for Noah’s Ark, its animal hurricane shelter on the Agricultural Grounds on the Bluff.
Kendal Massias, formerly a contractor in Grand Cayman, now retired and living in Cayman Brac, designed and carved a new sign above the entrance door. The sign features the ark, complete with dogs, cats and a bird.
Noah’s Ark is open for the Brac community during a hurricane. The shelter does not charge fees to house animals during a storm, but requires owners to call for their pets within hours of the storm passing.
Ongoing projects of the Brac branch include the spay and neuter program and the promotion of free dog license tags. The shelter raises funds through its Paws and Claws Thrift Shop next to Blue Breezes at Panama Canal. Donations of items for the thrift shop, as well as money, are always welcome, shelter managers said.
