The World Cup trophy touched down for the first time in Cayman Monday morning. Cayman’s press corps got a first look at the trophy on board the jet that brought it here. The jet, emblazoned with Coca-Cola and FIFA emblems, has been specially modified inside to carry the coveted sports trophy, seen here in its place of honor on board the plane. A viewing of the football prize, by invitation only, was held at the Island Air hanger beside Owen Roberts International Airport. The cup is on a world tour and it is estimated that more than one million people will have a chance to see the trophy.
