Local police are investigating a robbery on School Road on Saturday night.
Royal Cayman Islands Police Officers said two female occupants of a vehicle were talking to a male on School Road around 9 p.m. Saturday, when they were approached by two masked individuals.
Police said one of the masked robbers appeared to be armed with a small handgun and the second held a machete. A quantity of cash and two cellular phones along with some other personal items were stolen, police said.
A search of the area by responding police officers recovered one of the mobile phones and some of the personal items that were initially taken.
The first suspect was described as 6 feet tall, with a slim build. The second was described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall with a stout build. Both were wearing masks, dark clothing and gloves.
The RCIPS is also looking into a report of an attempted robbery at the back entrance of “The Corner” restaurant on Eastern Avenue.
Police said the incident occurred at 5:45 p.m. Friday, when the victim went to the restaurant to collect some money owed to him. While at the rear of the premises, police said two males attempted to rob the man. He managed to get away and contact the police.
No weapons were reported to have been used in the incident and no injuries were received by the victim.
