Sunset Football Club’s final fundraiser of the year hosts the football icon Kenny Dalglish at Magaritaville this weekend.
All but a few of the 300 tickets are sold out for a meet and greet, buffet and auction night with the former Scotland, Celtic and Liverpool player turned manager.
Sunset has kept to their ticket price of $75 and there was no shortage of takers to engage with one of the greatest icons in British football.
King Kenny, who managed Liverpool during their ‘80s heyday and had a mixed spell recently as the Reds manager, will be doing a question and answer session and helping with an auction of numerous football memorabilia at 6:30 p.m. at Margaritaville on Saturday.
Dalglish had a fabulous playing career, winning everything domestically with Liverpool, including the European Cup three times, and his management triumphs included winning the Premiership title with Blackburn in 1995.
King Kenny will also play in a golf scramble at North Sound Golf Club on Sunday. He arrived here on Wednesday with wife Marina.
Robin Jarvis, one of Sunset’s organizers, said: “We moved to Magaritaville from our usual venues of Triple Crown and Fidel Murphy’s because it is bigger and can accommodate more comfortably.
“Kenny phoned just before he left the U.K. and he sounded very keen and said he was looking forward to it all.
“Ticket buyers are, of course, mainly Liverpool, Celtic and Scotland fans, but there are many general football fans like me who and are excited about meeting a legend of the game.”
