Cruise passenger passes out while snorkeling

Two police officers administered CPR on an 84-year-old cruise ship passenger who lost consciousness while snorkeling off George Town Thursday morning.

According to police, about 10:40 a.m. Thursday, the elderly passenger was snorkeling near Paradise Restaurant with his family and friends when he appeared to get into difficulty and went unconsciousness.

His friends and family brought him to shore. Police officers immediately attended the location and administered CPR until the arrival of paramedics.

The man was being treated in the critical care unit of the Cayman Islands Hospital on Thursday afternoon.
