This Halloween, there are a host of events around Cayman. Weekender rounds up the best of the best.
Saturday, Oct. 26
Little monsters are in for a ghoulishly good time at Camana Bay’s annual event.
Kids can don their best costume and get ready to trick or treat throughout the Town Center, get creative with Creepy Crafts, guess what’s inside the Monster Lab, watch a Spooky Creature Feature, take a picture in a charity Pumpkin Patch and dance the night away at the Monster Mash Bash. From 4 to 7 p.m.
Moonlight and Movies
Bring your blanket and chairs for a series of family-friendly, PG-rated movies screened on the Crescent at Camana Bay, from 7 p.m.
Oct. 26, Monsters vs. Aliens; Oct. 28, The Spiderwick Chronicles; Oct. 29, Paranorman; Oct. 30, Casper.
Cayman’s biggest Halloween party, from 6 p.m. to midnight at Treasure Island. Drink specials from 6 to 8 p.m. Prizes for best costume.
Thursday, Oct. 31
Halloween Block Party
Start the night with the angels at Abacus from 3 to 9 p.m. and end with the demons and devils from 9 p.m. to midnight at Karoo. There will be a $500 prize for the best-dressed group. (Minimum of four people). Tickets are $15 per person and include a free welcome Halloween cocktail at Abacus, as well as happy hour prices until 7 p.m. and live music, free entry to the Rotary Club Haunted House and more. Wristbands are available for presale purchase at Karoo or Abacus, and sold on the night at Abacus.
House of Horrors
Get into the spirit of the spooky season at the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman’s Halloween House of Horrors next to Caribbean Canvas Company on The Crescent. Open from Thursday, Oct. 31 to Saturday, Nov. 2, 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Admissionis $10 and can be paid at the door or purchased from a Rotary Club of Grand Cayman member. Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult. All proceeds will benefit charities supported by the club.
The National Trust for the Cayman Islands hosts this family friendly event at Dart Park from 4 to 8 p.m. Adults and kids are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character and collect candies and goodies throughout the park while learning about Caymanian folklore. Local actors will bring Caymanian myths to life in the amphitheater every half hour. All proceeds aid the trust in supporting Cayman’s heritage.
Trunk or Treat
A fun and safe way to celebrate Halloween at Grand Harbour Parking Lot, from 5 to 7 p.m. Decorate your car’s trunk, stock up on candy and bring the kids. The best decorated trunk will win a trip to Miami, Tampa or Jamaica on Cayman Airways, plus a Cadbury gift basket. To qualify you must hand out at least one Cadbury product during Trunk or Treating. Games and activities for the little ones in front of Beaches bar and restaurant, as well as prizes for the best costume.
Beach bars Calico Jack’s and Surfside are combining forces for the night to host a zombie-themed block party, from 9 p.m. until late. Local bands Zipper Envy and Business Time will be performing at Surfside, while local DJs Billy Corduroy, Marcelle de Funky and Da Marsupial will be spinning tunes at Calico Jacks. Drink specials throughout the night.
The Wharf restaurant is hosting a spooky-themed party from 8 p.m. until late. DJ Flex and DJ Carter will be spinning the biggest hits, there will be cash prizes for the best dressed, as well as drink specials throughout the night.
