East End slammers prepare for title defense against All Stars

East End Mystical Youth are aiming to add to their trophy case.

After three consecutive national domino championships, the slammers are about to start their campaign for another. East End will play their season opener in the Cayman Islands Domino Association 2013-2014 national league. Mystical Youth are expected to battle Island All Stars on Sunday, Nov. 3, from roughly 2:30 p.m. at Pirate’s Cove Bar in East End.

Sunday’s contest will be a rematch of last season’s final, which East End won by 14 points at the same venue back in August. The reigning champs relied on veteran talent like Barton Solomon and Edwin Fisher throughout the year and are expected to do the same this season. All Stars will hope for more good play from the likes of Dwight Moss, Derrick Elliott Snr and Marcia Myles.

Another contest is slated to take place in George Town on Sunday. Eastern Star will battle the Roti team at Singh’s Roti Shop.

This year’s league officially kicked off last Sunday with Archies beating Ultra by 60 points. Dareen Ebanks and Kael Leslie paced the winners while Ultra leaned on Lenard Bodden and Hermenegildo Orella-Garcia. Andre “Mosquito” Christie served as referee for the contest.
