East End celebrates heritage

Visitors and residents alike were treated to great food and camaraderie on Friday during a day of cultural celebration at East End Heritage Day.

Arts and crafts were on display, as well as several antiques, and attendees enjoyed a lunch offering that included crab and turtle, as well as jerk chicken. There were demonstrations of coconut oil making, mango jam, stewed guava and plum preserves. Dancing around the maypole and learning how to use a sextant – the way Cayman’s seamen did years ago – were also part of the heritage event.
