Digicel is due to officially turn on its 4G Long Term Evolution network Thursday.
The company was awarded the LTE Spectrum license 11 weeks ago.
LIME is also launching its 4G LTE system this month.
LTE allows customers to experience mobile data speeds that are up to five times faster than the previous 4G network, allowing for quicker and higher quality streaming, sharing or multi-tasking on mobile devices.
According to Digicel, with all current cell sites now upgraded, 99 percent of the population has the capability of 4G LTE access across Grand Cayman and the Sister Islands.
The company said it would provide exclusive access to participants in its Early Adopter LTE program from Friday, Nov. 29 to Dec. 5. During this period, customers can pre-purchase devices and sign up for a plan at Digicel outlet. The company will then deliver the activated devices to the customers on Friday, Dec. 6.
Digicel’s LTE activation team will also be taking 4G LTE pre-registration at the upcoming Island Companies Business After Hours on Dec. 5th.
