All Stars dazzle

Local dominoes saw Island All Stars earn fresh kudos.

The club emerged the winners of the Cayman Islands Domino Association’s Knockout Challenge, sponsored by the Jacques Scott Group. All Stars were first in the standings for the tournament – which took place last weekend around the Heroes Day holiday – ahead of Archies, team Ultra and the Singh’s Roti Shop team.

The competition began on Saturday with a Ladies versus Men tournament at the Roti Shop, with the men winning by three points. Gary Berry served as match referee. Sunday saw a pair of matches at Mango Tree Bar, with Ian McLaughlin serving as referee. All Stars beat Ultra by 73 points with Archies defeating the Roti team by 28 points. On Monday, All Stars edged Archies by one point while Ultra had a forfeit win over the Roti team. George Dixon was match referee.

Focus now shifts back to the association’s 2014-2015 national league. The next set of scheduled matches will take place on Sunday, Feb. 9, in George Town. At Ultra Bar and Lounge, East End Mystical Youth take on Ultra, while Archies Bar sees Archies battling the Roti team.
