Gridiron action will take center stage in West Bay.
The Ed Bush Sports Center in West Bay will once again host local men and women playing flag football.
The Burger King Coed League, put on by the Cayman Islands Flag Football Association, opens Friday from 6 p.m. There are a total of eight games on tap with 16 sides in action until roughly 10 p.m.
The 2014 competition is divided into two groups of 10 teams each. The A division features Go Flag Yourself, Los Terroristas, Duke’s, Wok-N-Roll, Burger Shack, Andro Elevator, Impressions Beauty Salon, Cronies, Pizza Hut and CrossFit 7-Mile. The B ranks see Maples, Kirk Freeport, Burger King, KPMG, Cayman Auto Diagnostic Clinic, Mourant Ozannes, WestStar, WakeBoard Cayman, Ospreys and Walkers.
Early focus will be on last year’s champions. Burger Shack has three top flight titles in four years and Wok-N-Roll is a veteran team.
League games will be every Friday through May from 6 to 10 p.m. at Ed Bush. The association is proud to have an impressive 20 teams registered this year. Anyone interested in flag football is encouraged to come out and view league matches, which are seen as the ideal training ground for beginners.
