There are only two weekends left to catch the uproarious production of “CayTube Live” at the Prospect Playhouse Theatre, presented by the Cayman Drama Society. The evening clocks in at a snappy two hours, including a short intermission, and contains side-splitting laughs to keep audience members going for many days afterwards.
“CayTube” features a mixture of live skits and pre-recorded “commercials” that offer a hilarious twist on Cayman life, the wonders of technology, and those U.S. infomercials and programs with which we are all so familiar. All the pieces are original, and many are written by members of the cast.
The audience response has been overwhelmingly positive after the production’s opening weekend, and producer Malcolm Ellis is confident that they will be looking at packed houses over the next fortnight.
“We’ve had great audiences,” he says, “and they’ve all come out saying how much they enjoy the show. Many have remarked that they can really relate to the material, which makes ‘CayTube’ all the more entertaining for them.”
The cast members are a versatile group of performers, with many of them playing multiple roles throughout the evening. No doubt regular theatergoers will recognize local talents Michael McLaughlin and Wendy Moore on the stage, along with a very strong cast including Jacoline Frank, Julissa Castillo, Malcolm Ellis, Martin Tedd, Mary Anne Kosa, Dominic Wheaton, Gwynneth Hamilton, Michelle Morgan, Soraya Moghadass, Teri Quappe, Vijay Singhera and Peter Kosa, who is also the director of this production.
This is the second incarnation of “CayTube Live” by the Cayman Drama Society. It first appeared on the scene in 2012 and has now returned with all new skits, such as “Germinal Hospital,” “Customs Lottery,” “Northward Ritz,” and “Restaurant Rollover.”
“CayTube” is a truly hilarious, well-written production with excellent performances from all. If you haven’t booked your tickets already, you need to do so now. You honestly don’t want to miss this fantastic night out.
CayTube Live is being staged at the Prospect Playhouse Theatre every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night through May 17. The performance begins at 7.30 p.m. and tickets are $25.
