Suspected arson at CashWiz

Police are investigating a suspected arson that occurred at George Town’s CashWiz on Sunday night.

It is the second time vehicles at the property have been set alight.

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service and firefighters were called to the North Church Street business about 9:30 p.m. to extinguish a Ford Explorer.

Chief Inspector Raymond Christian said padlocks on the property had been cut to allow the intruder to enter the carpark.

Inspector Christian said the right side of the vehicle’s dashboard had been extensively damaged by the fire, which blew a hole in the front windshield. No one was injured as a result of the fire.

The business was also the victim of arson in October in 2011, when employees found two cars the company had for sale had been burned.

Police are still investigating and ask anyone with information to contact CRIME STOPPERS at 800-8477.
