Medal triumph made Nanjing trip worthwhile for athletes

The Cayman Islands officially wrapped up its time at the 2014 Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China.  

Polly Serpell, after claiming bronze in the equestrian team event, rode to 15th overall in the individual category. Over the weekend, she had 12 penalties in the first round – ranking in 22nd place – before posting four penalties in the second round to rank tied for fifth. Her combined scores led to her overall ranking. 

On the water, sailors Pablo Bertran and Florence Allan finished 17th and 22nd overall, respectively, in the nine-race Byte CII, one-person dinghy class. Bertran had a strong finish to the event, taking second and sixth in the final two races. On the track, sprinter Pearl Morgan finished 18th overall in the girls 200-meter dash. In the C Final, where she was second amongst her group, she ran a time of 27.32 seconds.
