The sea swim calendar begins again this weekend with the Foster’s Food Fair IGA 800-meter event.
It’s a special one too, as Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association hosts the 30th annual Foster’s sea swim on Saturday.
The swim starts at 4 p.m., with registration from 3 to 3:45 p.m. It runs south, parallel to Seven Mile Beach, starting at Public Beach and ending at Governor’s Beach.
The swimming association’s sea swims attract a wide variety of participants – competitive and noncompetitive swimmers of all ages.
It is a family activity which allows parents to set a great example of living a healthy life by swimming with their children.
“Foster’s Food Fair IGA is delighted to be part of this event again,” said Managing Director Woody Foster. “Our family is a long-time supporter of swimming and our companies are committed to helping the people of the Cayman Islands live a healthy life.”
It will feature extra prizes, surprises and treats for all participants and, for non-swimmers – and to support Foster’s Food Fair’s Wellness program – there will also be a half mile beach walk.
Registration for walkers also takes place at Public Beach starting at 3 p.m. Entry fee is $10, which includes a T-shirt and eligibility for random prizes.
All swimmers are provided with swim caps, which must be worn for safety reasons, and there are event T-shirts, trophies for the top three male and female finishers in each age group, and Subway refreshments provided at the end of all the races.
