Police have named a Caymanian man who died Sunday evening after being pulled from the water in Rum Point as 41-year-old Henry William Dixon of East End.
In a statement released Sunday night, Detective Chief Inspector Richard Barrow said the man was rushed by a private vessel to emergency services in North Sound Estates after being pulled from the water around 6:21 p.m. on Sunday. He was then transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he later was pronounced dead.
Police said officers from the RCIPS Marine Unit were continuing their investigation of the drowning and were questioning the occupants of the boat Mr. Dixon had been on “to get a clearer picture” of what occurred.
“The [Royal Cayman Islands Police Service] extends condolences to the bereaved family,” said Mr. Barrow.
Police are requesting anyone with information to contact PC Dwight Rivers of the Marine Unit at 949-7710.
